Analog Warmth, Digital Power
Union Sound Company was built to be the ultimate creative playground. In a city as vibrant as Toronto, we needed a space that could handle everything from intimate indie folk to massive orchestral ensembles.
The philosophy here is "Character over Perfection." While the acoustics are technically flawless, the room has a distinct "sound"—warm, inviting, and larger than life. We combined vintage architectural elements with modern acoustic treatment to create a studio that feels like a home but sounds like a world-class facility.

Controlling the Chaos
A large live room is a double-edged sword: it sounds epic, but can quickly become muddy. Here is how we tamed the physics:
1. Broadband Bass Trapping
To keep the "big room" sound without the low-end rumble, we integrated massive broadband traps into the ceiling structure. This allows the kick drums and bass guitars to hit hard and decay naturally, without building up standing waves.
2. Variable Acoustics
We designed custom rotating panels along the walls. One side is absorptive (for a tight, dry sound) and the other is diffusive (for a bright, open room tone). This allows the engineer to "tune" the room to the band in minutes.
